Elliott Ward has stressed the importance of consistently picking up points in order to have a successful campaign.
After four wins on the spin, Rovers suffered a surprise home defeat last time out against AFC Wimbledon.
As Ward and the rest of the squad prepare to face table-topping Shrewsbury later today, he knows that the team have to adapt to the challenges that each side throws up in order to get the required results.
"It has obviously been a bit of a mixture results-wise," said the experience defender.
"We'd had a good run until Saturday, I think we've shown that we can mix our game up and still win games.
"But we are going come up against teams - like we did on Saturday - that will literally get a goal and then defend for the rest of the game.
"So it is down to us to improve on that side of things, to control games and to find a way to break teams down, because teams will come to Ewood and try and make things difficult.
"We had a four-game winning spell and we wanted to make it five, but you will lose games in the season, it happens, but you have to bounce back.
"We've got a big game this Saturday, it is the league leaders, followed by a home game. So it is about getting the points again now.
"We've to find a way to beat a team that are on form at the minute. Every week is a challenge, it is different, it is unpredictable.
"But we have to be as consistent as possible to achieve what we want. It has been an okay start, and if in another month's time we are in the top six then that's perfect.
"There is a long way to go and a lot of games to play. We feel confident that by the end of the season we will have achieved what we have set out to do."
