Corry Evans is the third Rovers player to receive a call-up by his country for the forthcoming international matches.

Following on from Jayson Leutwiler (Canada), and Charlie Mulgrew (Scotland), the midfielder has been named in Michael O'Neill's Northern Ireland squad for their final pair of World Cup 2018 qualifiers.

The Northern Irish take on group winners Germany in Belfast on Thursday 5th October, before they finish against Norway in Oslo the following Sunday.

Northern Ireland have had an outstanding qualifying campaign, comfortably securing second place in their group. They have dropped just five points along the way, and perhaps more impressively, conceded just two goals.

Those came in the corresponding fixture against Germany last October when the group winners inflicted a 2-0 defeat in Hannover.

Since then, the Northern Irish have gone on an impressive five-match winning streak, including a 2-0 win over Norway.

Northern Ireland currently have the second best qualifying record for a second-placed team across the groups, and will be one of the sides to avoid in November's play-offs.
