Rovers' pre-Christmas away trip to Northampton Town will now take place an hour earlier.

The first ever meeting of the two sides at the Sixfields Stadium will kick-off at 2.00pm on Saturday 23rd December.

This is due to the Aviva Premiership Rugby Union match between Northampton Saints and Exeter Chiefs taking place at Franklin's Gardens on the same day.

The last meeting between the two sides took place in January 1975 when Rovers won a League Cup second round replay 1-0 at Ewood Park.

You have to go back to the 1966/67 season for the last time they met in a league encounter. The Cobblers won 2-1 at the County Ground that November, before Rovers got their revenge with a 3-0 home win the following April.

Ticketing and travel arrangements for the December clash will be confirmed closer to the time.
