Elliott Bennett and Danny Graham rounded off the third and final Blackburn Rovers community appearance in the past 24 hours with a visit to Blackburn Youth Zone.
The pair were left impressed with the venue’s facilities which boast a sports hall and a rooftop five-a-side football pitch.
Bennett and Graham’s stop off at the Youth Zone comes off the back of the Trust’s exciting new partnership with the charity which means all sports session at the Youth Zone will now be hosted by BRCT coaches.
Like always, the busy town centre location was vibrant when Bennett and Graham arrived, leaving the former wishing he had a similar facility to go to when he was growing up.
He said: “The local community is the heart of Blackburn Rovers and it is good that we have a strong relationship with the Youth Zone.
“I would have loved a facility like this on my doorstep when I was younger and it is only 50p to get in. It is the price of a can of coke and I know what I would prefer to spend my money on.
“I would want to be at the Youth Zone all the time with my friends, it is a fantastic facility and hopefully more people in the local area will put it to good use.
“It is important to get people involved not only in football but all different types of sports and the Youth Zone gives young people an opportunity to keep active and off the streets.”
BRCT has four members of staff working at the Youth Zone on a daily basis, headed up by sports manager Lee Mannion.
Lee and his team have been in post for just over a month, and he is pleased with how the relationship has developed with the Youth Zone so far.
“The young people are really enjoying the sports sessions we are putting on at the Youth Zone,” revealed Mannion.
“It is great to see the support we are receiving from the first team and we are grateful Danny and Elliott paid the Youth Zone a visit.
“They were impressed with what they saw and it is a massive boost for our young people to see Blackburn Rovers players at the Youth Zone.”
