Richie Smallwood believes Rovers responded to the disappointing draw at home to Plymouth in the perfect manner with the 3-0 victory over Portsmouth.
Despite dominating the midweek match against the Pilgrims, Rovers were unable to find the all-important second goal and were forced to settle for a share of the points.
However, it was a different story against Pompey on Saturday, as goals from Bradley Dack, Danny Graham and Craig Conway saw Rovers cruise to a comfortable win.
Smallwood, who went close to a first Ewood Park goal with a stunning long-range strike midway through the first half, hopes Rovers can build on that impressive performance and start stringing together a run of positive results at home.
"Overall I think it was a very good performance and hopefully we can build on that now," the midfield ace told iFollow Rovers after the game.
"The conditions were very tough, but it always helps when you're a goal or two up and it was nice to get a big win.
"It was a shame on Tuesday night that we just couldn't get that second goal, but I think that performance then followed on from the other night and that's a positive sign.
"We were all disappointed not to get that second goal on Tuesday night - I know we came very close - but it didn't happen and we felt as a group that we were due a very good performance at home and get a few goals and I think that came today.
"I think we felt comfortable right the way through the game, we scored some good goals and that gets confidence up, especially for the lads who are scoring.
"Hopefully that starts us on a big run now and individually and collectively we can push on and start putting in performances like that every time at Ewood."
