Rovers' Under-23s return to action on Friday evening with a trip to Newcastle, looking to put pressure on league leaders Middlesbrough.
The young Blues currently sit third in the Premier League 2 standings, with their opponents in seventh and without a win in five matches.
Last time out, Rovers were made to work hard for an eventual 2-2 draw at Brighton, going 2-1 ahead via a brace from Joe Nuttall before Willem Tomlinson was sent off, allowing the hosts back into the game.
A victory for Damien Johnson's side on Friday could move them to within just a point of Boro, should they lose at Brighton in the early kick-off.
In terms of team news, Scott Wharton is expected to step up his return to action after playing 45 minutes on Monday night, whilst Tomlinson serves the first of a three-match suspension.
Kick-off at the Northumberland FA ground is scheduled for 7pm, and we'll keep you updated on the game via our official Twitter page.
