Rovers captain Charlie Mulgrew helped Scotland to a dramatic 1-0 victory over 10-man Slovakia on Thursday evening.
The defender was named in the starting line-up at Hampden Park and played the full 90 minutes as Gordon Strachan’s side picked up three priceless points, courtesy of an 89th-minute Martin Skrtel own goal.
The victory leaves Scotland second in Group F, two points clear of Slovakia, meaning another win in Slovenia on Sunday would secure their place in the play-offs.
Elsewhere, Rovers midfielder Corry Evans and Northern Ireland remain well placed to join Scotland in next month’s knockout round, despite a 3-1 defeat to Germany in Belfast.
Evans completed the majority of the match against the reigning world champions - and had Northern Ireland's best chance of the first half - before being replaced with 10 minutes remaining at Windsor Park.
Michael O’Neill’s men are guaranteed a second-placed finish in Group C, but may still need a point in Norway on Sunday to be sure of a play-off place.
We will continue to provide updates on the Rovers duo ahead of their return to domestic action next week.
