Tony Mowbray is pleased with the performances that Paul Downing has been putting in.
The defender has made three starts since joining Rovers on a season-long loan from MK Dons, and has been on the winning side on each occasion, as the team recorded victories over Rochdale, Rotherham United, and, last time out, Gillingham.
He has also been part of a defence that has kept a clean sheet in those three games, and whilst Mowbray knows there are areas that Downing needs to improve on, he's happy to see him playing his part.
"They have got us six points this week the clean sheets," said the manager.
"I am pleased for Paul Downing who has come in. In the three games he has played now, away at Rochdale, and the last two, he's had three clean sheets.
"As a central defender that is not a bad start to his career for us.
"He's still got things that he needs to develop and get stronger at and learn, but he's done exceptionally well alongside Charlie."
Downing won't be involved this Tuesday night when Rovers entertain Bury in the second group match of the Checkatrade Trophy, as he is cup-tied.
