Craig Conway hopes Rovers can put a marker down when they visit Wigan Athletic this weekend.
The Latics currently sit second in the table, having won eight of their last 10 league games.
But Conway insists Rovers are more than capable of getting a result at the DW Stadium and he believes last weekend's 3-0 victory over Portsmouth was the perfect preparation.
"I thought it was probably our best performance of the season," said the Scot, who netted Rovers' third goal in the rain-soaked Ewood encounter.
"The lads were brilliant, first half especially, and I felt we were comfortable in the end.
"It was a great result and it puts us nicely into the game against Wigan on Saturday."
Conway, who has declared himself fully fit after being troubled by some niggling injuries during the early stages of the season, added: "They've been going really well, so it's a massive game for us.
"I suppose it's a test to really see where we're at.
"I think we've definitely got it in us to go and get a result there, but they'll be thinking exactly the same thing.
"I think they're sitting second in the table, they've been playing really well and they're on quite a long winning run, but we're definitely more than capable of getting a result, so hopefully we can do that.
"We've got a couple of games in hand, but you'd rather have the points on the table, so we want to go there and if we can get three points it will definitely put a marker down and put a bit of pressure on the teams around about us.
"We've got ourselves into a better position now and we've got a couple of games in hand, so we need to put a run together and hopefully that starts on Saturday."
Fans who are yet to purchase tickets for the game can still do so at the DW Stadium on the day by paying cash only at the turnstiles.
