Marcus Antonsson says "the best is yet to come" from Blackburn Rovers this season, and is targeting a run of victories before Christmas.
Tony Mowbray's men currently sit seventh in the League One table, with two games in hand over several sides in the top half.
Speaking ahead of Rovers' trip to Oldham on Saturday, Antonsson says he and his team-mates are just getting warmed up.
“The intensity is good in this league, I think it’s not far away from the Championship," he told reporters.
"The teams here seem to be more hard-working, but I still think we have a really good team with a lot of individual quality. We haven’t seen the best of it yet, there’s much more to come.
“To go on a big run and really challenge the other top teams is massive. We have two games in hand over a couple of teams but if we can still be up there, it’s a good feeling to have with us."
Antonsson has three league goals to his name in 2017-18, including the winning strike against Scunthorpe last month.
The Swede says he's getting better every day at Rovers, and is hoping to be more clinical in the coming games.
“I’m enjoying it very much here, I feel like I’m improving all the time," he added.
"I’m more comfortable on the ball, I’m scoring more goals in training and hopefully I can continue to score in the games as well!
“To be fair, it’s been a long time since I last played out wide, but now it’s kind of a free role, it’s not like I’m a winger. I can go inside as well and use my strength to run in behind and I think I’ve shown that.
"We’ve put two good performances together, but I still think we should have scored more goals, myself included.
“With some luck, I could have scored four against Rotherham, and I could have been on the scoresheet against Gillingham as well.
"We need to put chances away because otherwise we won’t always come away with three points. Every game in this league is hard and you really need to be at your best every week."
