Rovers' Under-23s return to action on Friday evening with a Premier League Cup clash against Watford in Leyland.

It could be a much-changed Blues side, with several players missing through injury or suspension ahead of the match.

Top scorer Joe Nuttall is one of several regulars that could be named in the first-team squad for Saturday's FA Cup game against Barnet.

Dan Butterworth featured in Wednesday's FA Youth Cup win at Tranmere but could still play, while Willem Tomlinson will serve the final game of his three-match ban, which covers non first-team fixtures only.

Stefan Mols is set for an extended period on the sidelines after suffering a spiral fracture of his tibia in the U23s' last league outing, a match which also saw Joe Rankin-Costello come off with a knock, though the latter could return.

Rovers played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in our opening group game in the competition at the start of October, with Nuttall scoring twice.

As always, we'll bring you news of both starting line-ups via our official Twitter page. Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm.
