Rovers' Under-23s head coach Damien Johnson was pleased with a positive performance and result, as his young side ran out 3-0 winners at Aston Villa.
Callum Wright's first-half strike was followed up by goals from forwards Lewis Mansell and Dan Butterworth, as Rovers produced another accomplished display to make it three PL2 wins on the spin.
"I'm pleased with the lads, we thoroughly deserved to win," said Johnson.
"Aston Villa are a decent side, who have been playing well recently. The chances we created were excellent and the display was a good one.
"We were excellent throughout and the subs also impacted the game. The lads worked hard and took pride in their display.
"It's pleasing to restrict a team who have done well and have won a few games. It was a good display from the boys."
Whilst Johnson was pleased with the win, he admits seeing his youngsters follow in the footsteps of Joe Nuttall and progress into the senior squad remain his top priority.
"We're not in it to win the league, it's not about finishing first or second," he added.
"We're in it to get players into the first team after producing good performances - that's my job. We want to set them up to be ready to make that step up."
Rovers' Under-23s are next in action on Monday 27th November against West Bromwich Albion at the LFA County Ground in Leyland.
