Joe: I'm just getting started

Rovers' man of the moment says he's loving life at Ewood Park

9 November 2017

Rovers' man of the moment Joe Nuttall says he's loving life at the club, and hopes this season is "the first of many" at Ewood Park.

The striker is the talk of the town, having scored three goals in his last three senior appearances, following some fine goalscoring form for the Under-23s.

After finding the net against Rochdale on Tuesday night, Nuttall was asked about the factors behind his recent success.

“Everything – the staff, the players, I don’t think I’ve ever felt more at home at a club," he said.

“I’ve loved every minute here and hope it’s the first season of many.

“I’m learning all the time from staff and senior players, I think I’m bringing something different to the team.

“The senior players here have the experience to help me through it.

“We’ll just see where it goes. I’m ready to play and will give it my all in either team [senior or Under-23s], that’s all anyone can expect.

“With the momentum we’ve got, with the momentum I’ve got, I just want there to be more games.

“When the international break is over, we’re going to be ready and I’m going to be ready as well."

Nuttall also revealed that he's surpassed even his own target for the first half of the campaign, but says he's still hungry for more.

“I’m more than pleased," he added. "My target was double figures by Christmas and I’ve gone past that.

“I just want to keep getting more goals now and make sure the gaffer has no choice but to play me.

“He’s got great strikers already who have experience of playing at this level; I’m new to league football but I’ll keep pushing.

“Any striker has to believe that every time he goes out on that pitch, he’s going to score.

"You have to believe you’re the best player on the pitch, otherwise there’s no point in playing.

“To get goals, you have to be confident and fortunately it’s happening for me at the minute."
