Elliott Bennett could feature for Rovers against his former club Crewe Alexandra when the sides meet at Ewood Park this weekend.
The midfielder made nine appearances for Crewe during a short loan spell with the Cheshire club in 2007-08, having come up through the ranks at Wolves.
Speaking ahead of the Emirates FA Cup second-round match, Bennett remembers his time at Crewe fondly, and is looking forward to facing them on Sunday.
“I was very young when I was at Crewe," he said.
"Apart from my debut for Wolves, it was the first time I’d played in the league, and it feels like a long time ago now!
“I had a fantastic time there, it was only a short spell but it was a massive learning curve for me to go and play men’s football and be around the first-team.
“To go out and see what was needed to get three points and send people home happy, it taught me a lot.
“I look back on that time fondly, I tried to take little bits from everywhere and make myself better.
“Without those experiences, you don’t learn about yourself as a person and whether you’re ready for it.
“I really enjoyed it – it set me up for my career.”
Rovers have reason to be confident, having won four games in a row, and Bennett says everyone has a part to play with fixtures coming thick and fast.
“We’re just hoping that, with the positive mood we’re in at the minute, the strength of the squad can see us through this busy period," he added.
“You hope you can come through on the other side of it in January with a big smile on your face.
“You have to go into every game with all you’ve got, regardless of who you’re playing, and that’s why managers talk about building a squad.
“It creates healthy competition between the lads and pushes everyone to be at their best every day in training.
“I’d play a game every couple of days throughout the season if it was allowed - I’m not sure some of the older lads will thank me for saying that though!"
