Cup final Sunday

3 May 2017

Tony Mowbray will be treating Sunday's match against Brentford as a cup final.

Rovers go into the last day of the season knowing that they need to defeat the Bees to give them the best prospect of Championship survival.

Last weekend's win over Aston Villa has given the Rovers a fighting chance, and the boss knows that they have to be at their peak to take it.

"At least we've got a final week to really build it up, to get the players at their peak maximum fitness, mentality and quality," Mowbray told Radio Rovers.

"Lets really build up to this game like it is a cup final. It is ironic we are going to west London to go and play a cup final in our minds and lets approach the game like that and lets see how we get on."

The Rovers boss can take confidence from the way the side have performed on their travels since he took charge, with just two defeats from their last seven games away from home.

"We've been pretty good on the road in the last couple of games so I'll look forward to the challenge of that," he added.

"We'll work really hard through the week and try and get a game plan and a recipe to go to Brentford and win."

Tickets for Sunday's match at Griffin Park have now all sold out. Why not listen to full match commentary on Rovers PlayerHD. Our broadcast starts at approximately 11.45am.
