Jason Lowe knows that Tuesday night's win over Derby County can only help Rovers as they prepare to face Wigan Athletic at Ewood Park this Saturday.

Craig Conway's second half penalty was enough to give the Blues the three points and build the side's confidence going into the weekend match.

The Rovers captain felt it was a fantastic effort against the Rams, and knows that they'll have to be at their best once more to beat the Latics.

"It was a massive victory for us," Lowe told Rovers PlayerHD. "Going into these games at home, they’re going to be vital for us and they can certainly push us on.

"Tuesday night was obviously a step in the right direction, it was a fantastic effort from the lads, we dug it out, we kept a clean sheet, a good old fashioned Championship game I would say and it was fantastic to be on the winning side of it.

"It’s a busy period before the international break, there’s a lot of games coming thick and fast, so we just need to prepare right, make sure we’re mentally fresh and physically ready, as much as we possibly can be, and just try to win the next game.

"We’ve got four points from six and we’ve given ourselves a great chance. We’ve got two more home games, so let’s try and win them, it’s as simple as that."

Rovers and Lowe are back in action this Saturday when Wigan Athletic are the visitors to Ewood Park.
