Tony Mowbray paid tribute to his unsung heroes after Saturday's 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic.
Marvin Emnes will rightly take the plaudit for his outstanding play and finish for the matchwinner, but the Rovers boss believes you have to have the right blend of talent on the pitch to get the results.
"I believe in soldiers and artists in football teams, that is what I call them," Mowbray told Radio Rovers.
"The soldiers have won us the game today, however Marvin is ultimately the artist who won it. Artists have to paint pictures and Marvin has to paint pictures on the pitch to make things happen and to create chances and score goals.
"The soldiers behind, they have to dig in, they have to fight to make sure we don't concede so we win football games through clean sheets.
"I think the balance is okay, we have to be a little better with the ball, the artists have to come to the fore a little bit more.
"We've had warriors on the pitch the last few days and hopefully they'll stay there for the remainder of the season and help us achieve what we want to do."
