Blackburn Rovers is pleased to announce a new partnership with WEC Group Ltd, who have signed a deal to become the club’s official social media sponsor for the rest of the season.
The Lancashire-based firm, which is one of the largest engineering and fabrication companies in the UK, has a long-standing association with the club, having sponsored the Darwen End Stand from 2008 to 2012.
A host of Rovers players have also attended the Group’s annual Apprentice of the Year Awards ceremonies in recent years.
The new deal will see the WEC Group logo included on Rovers’ Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts.
Danny Davis, Rovers’ Business Development Manager, said: “It’s great to partner with a successful local company and assist them boost their brand awareness and specifically help them recruit locally, thus providing Blackburn and Darwen with skilled individuals and providing ambitious youngsters with a fantastic opportunity.
“Ultimately, it fits perfectly with our ethos of working closely with the local community and engaging with the fans of the future.”

“The company is proud to be associated with Blackburn Rovers Football Club and as a life-long supporter, I am hoping the results of our partnership will match more success on the pitch!”
WEC Group’s in-house Training Academy is the only apprenticeship scheme of its type in the UK, offering traditional five-year apprenticeships to local individuals in welding/fabrication, CNC machining and technical production engineering, as well as recently expanding to other areas of the company including CAD programming, business administration and IT.
Wayne added: “The club’s target audience for social media is exactly the kind of people we are trying to reach out to as a way of promoting our fantastic apprenticeship schemes, as they provide local people with a practical alternative to going to college or university, as well as equipping them with the high-quality skills they need to carve out a successful career in engineering.”
