Barely hours after rolling out the red carpet for HRH Prince Charles, Clitheroe was excited to welcome two even more important visitors from the Rovers first team squad!
Elliott Bennett and Danny Guthrie made a special visit to Ribblesdale High School to see the impact that Blackburn Rovers Community Trust's Premier League Girls' Football programme is having, joining in with a keenly fought match among female players from various years at the school.
Starting off as makeshift goalkeepers, both made some decent stops before straying outfield to show their specialist skills, with Elliott in particular deciding to try and show off some of the tricks that have led to him scoring a fine selection of long range goals in recent months.
Adam Aspinall, who regularly delivers the Ribblesdale programme, praised both players for their contribution, explaining:
"This is always a well attended session and the girls were definitely vibrant when they discovered that we were going to get some mystery guests coming along - it probably meant more to some of the Rovers fans in the group than the Prince coming to their town the day before!
"Ribblesdale High School is very supportive of our programme and have helped to bring through some excellent young players, so we're delighted to have rewarded their efforts by bringing Danny and Elliott along to join in.
"They were both keen to help the girls to see where their skills are at compared to a professional and it was a noisy and lively session for all the right reasons."
