Rovers defender Kelsey Pearson is ready to get back to winning ways this weekend when they face West Bromwich Albion in the WPL North.

Last Sunday saw Rovers suffer only their second loss of the season in a thrilling WPL Cup semi-final at Charlton, so they’ll be eager to bounce back.

The Rovers Ladies sit top of the table, six points and with three games in hand ahead of nearest challengers Middlesbrough, so a positive result against West Brom will help them consolidate their leading position.

However Pearson knows it won’t be easy against an Albion side that have picked up their results in recent weeks.

“Last weekend’s defeat in the semi-final of the cup was disappointing but after going 2-0 down we showed character to come back into the game and never gave up,” said the defender.

“It won’t change the way we prepare for West Brom, individually or as a team. We have to go into the game with a positive mentality.

“We love league games and our goal is to win the league and hopefully get promoted. But every team wants us to drop points, so focus is key and every game is a must win.

“West Brom are a good side and are going to be a hard team to break down. We will have to be at our best.”

Kick-off is at 2pm at Rushall Olympic FC. Follow @RoversLadies on twitter for live updates.
