Final ambition for Rovers' Ladies

Rovers Ladies manager Gemma Donnelly has nothing but praise for her players as they prepare to face Charlton Athletic in this Sunday's WPL League Cup semi-final.

Having already reached the final of the Lancashire Cup final, they'll be going all out to reach another if they can overcome the Addicks.

But it won't be easy against a Charlton side currently sitting top of the Women's Premier League Southern Divison, but off the back of three wins in a week, Donnelly says the secret to success so far this season has been down to the players being in control.

“The season so far has been incredible,” said Donnelly. “The players have stuck to their job and although we haven’t won anything yet, the league table would suggest we are in a very healthy position.
“We have also reached the county cup final again this year, the semi-final of the League Cup and we reached round three of the FA Cup, narrowly being beaten late on by Tottenham Hotspur.
“The secret for us has been direction, determination, recruitment, teamwork and empowering the players to determine their own targets.
“We’ve dissected the season down into smaller chunks, which I believe will ultimately lead them to achieving our ambitions.”

Kick-off is at 2pm on Sunday at Sporting Club Thamesmead. Follow @RoversLadies on twitter for live updates!
