Brighton have done extraordinarily well

Tony Mowbray has heaped praise on his opposition number Chris Hughton as the two go head-to-head this Saturday.

The Rovers boss has been impressed with the manner in which Brighton have recovered from the disappointment of missing out on automatic promotion on the final day of last season, and then to come up short in the resulting play-off battle.

This campaign has seen the Seagulls maintain a top two position for the majority of the season, so Mowbray knows it will be a big ask at the American Express Community Stadium.

"First and foremost they've done really well to bounce back from the huge disappointment of the last day of last season where they didn't quite get there against Middlesbrough away," said Mowbray.

"To rally themselves around to go again for another long season to be where they are has been a fantastic achievement for them.

"They managed to keep hold of their best players, the Knockaerts and the Dunks of this world that would have been coveted by other teams.

"They've done extraordinarily well, Chris Hughton has done extraordinarily well to keep them going and keep them at the top end of the table and neck and neck with Newcastle all year.

"It is a big ask for us to go to Brighton, because it is not just the footballers on the pitch, the atmosphere that is created in that stadium that will be nearly full, they'll be sensing that next hurdle they need to get over and that next hurdle is us, Rovers.

"They have to try and get the three points and as the games tick away they eventually get there. So whilst they have done exceptionally well we have to make sure that, as we've shown over the last seven games, that we go and display at their stadium and hopefully try and get some points."

Fans are reminded that with home areas now all sold out, there will be no sales on the day at Brighton, so advance purchase will be required.

Tickets will go off sale at Ewood Park this Friday at 3.30pm. They are priced at £30 for Adults, £22 for Seniors 65+ and Under-21s, £15 for Under-18s and £8 for Under-10s.
