A huge test for us

Tony Mowbray feels tonight's match against Cardiff City will pose a different type of challenge for his players.

Rovers go into the third of a trio of matches at Ewood Park looking to make it a hat-trick of victories, but come up against a Bluebirds side who are one of the form teams in the division.

The Rovers boss has been impressed with the application of the team under his tenure, but knows that this evening's game will their biggest test to date.

"After the first three games the players haven't been found wanting," said Mowbray.

"They have all been different games. For an hour against Burton we were very, very good with the ball, we dominated. Yet for half an hour against Derby we were camped on the edge of our box trying to make sure we hung onto a 1-0 win.

"Even the most recent game was tough, we got ourselves in front against Wigan and the psychological aspect saw us try to sit on that too deep and that brought Wigan onto us, but we managed to see the game out.

"So every game is different, the next one is Cardiff, they are pretty direct, they are very powerful, they are big and they throw it and kick it into your box from all angles. Yet they don't give much away at the back.

"So this is going to be a huge test for us. But what I do know that with the group of players that we've got is they will apply their talents and their desire to win for this football team. They'll be out there to give 100% and lets hope they get three points."
