Rovers new boy Richie Smallwood is confident the club can bounce back into the Championship at the first time of asking.
The former Rotherham and Middlesbrough midfielder believes that all the necessary ingredients are in place for Rovers to have a successful season in League One.
"I'm very confident," said Smallwood, who helped Rotherham earn promotion to the Championship after scoring the winning penalty in the 2014 League One play-off final.
"When I've looked at the squad and looked at the retain list, and I'm sure they're going to bring more players in, so it should be a good healthy squad, good competition for places, it's a good environment, the facilities are absolutely brilliant, so I think it will be good.
"I think there's a very good chance, if everyone puts in 100% and has the right attitude, I'm sure it will be a good season for all."
The players don't return to Brockhall for pre-season training until next week, but Smallwood insists he's already itching to get going and meet his new team-mates for the first time.
"I can't wait," added the 26-year-old, who has signed a two-year deal at Ewood Park.
"That's the exciting bit. I'll be chomping at the bit to get going. I like to work hard and stay fit anyway, so hopefully I'll come back in good shape, ready to go and get stuck into the pre-season games, get some minutes under my belt and hopefully get a flying start to the season."
• Don't forget, Rovers fans now have extra time to take advantage of the club's price freeze on season tickets for the 2017-18 season.
The great-value Early Bird offer - and claim your seat deadline - has been extended until Saturday July 1st.
With adult prices starting from just £279, it means supporters who buy or renew a season ticket can see all the action at Ewood Park for less than £13 per game.
