Rovers Ladies captain Lynda Shepherd had no hesitation in extended her stay with the club for a further year.
The experienced midfielder, who captained the side to league and cup success last season, dismissed all thoughts of hanging up her boots by signing on for what will be her eighth season with the club.
Having joined in 2005, she spent five years at Rovers before signing for Manchester City, but returned to the club in 2014.
“Committing to Rovers for the upcoming season was an easy decision once I finally decided that I wanted to carry on playing,” said Shepherd.
“I’ve always said that I would be finishing at Rovers and that’s exactly what I will be doing."
Shepherd, winner of FA Women’s Premier League Players’ Player of the Year for 2016, believes the club is in the right hands and heading in the right direction under boss Gemma Donnelly.
The side enjoyed an unbeaten league campaign last term, winning the FA Women's Premier League with four matches to spare, before lifting the Lancashire Challenge Cup for the 11th time.
She added: “The club is going in the right direction and Gemma has great staff around her that enable the players to develop and perform.
“The team is an amazing team to be a part of, and hopefully the majority of the players will commit too. Topping last season will be a difficult one, but we will give it our best shot.”
