Mark Venus believes that recruiting the right players will be key to ensuring that Rovers achieve their ambitions next season.
The new assistant manager insists that he is working closely with head coach Tony Mowbray to target players with the desired attitude and ability, who can play a big part in Rovers’ push for promotion in League One.
"I think it's imperative we get the right players in over the summer,” said Venus.
"Whoever the manager is and however he works, you need the right tools to work with.
"I think that process has already started. Everyone is working very hard behind the scenes and hopefully we should be able to get a couple of signings over the line soon and give everybody a taste of where we want to be.”
Venus will meet the Rovers squad for the first time when the players return to Brockhall for pre-season training at the end of the month, but the new number two insists that his full focus is on strengthening the squad between now and then.
"When players come back, it's just another stage in the year-long season,” he added.
"At the moment, I'm really looking forward to trying to attract the right players to come to the football club to help us get the job done that we know we have to do.”
