New signing Peter Whittingham insists the ‘blue-and-white army’ will have a huge role to play in Rovers’ push for promotion next season.

The midfield ace is confident that with the full support of the fans and everyone pulling in the same direction, the club will quickly climb the league table.

“It’s massively important (to have the fans right behind the team),” said the 32-year-old, who has signed a two-year deal at Ewood Park.

“It can give you that 5-10% that you need to win games. It's going to be huge for us and for them, we all just need to muck in together and get results.

“Once you get a couple of results – two or three results – and you start well, then it breeds confidence and it takes you on that little run.

“If you go on that little run of winning three or four games on the bounce, then it fires you straight up the league, so that's what we need to do.”

The former Cardiff City star has played at Ewood Park numerous times throughout his career and insists he can’t wait to get going at his new home in Rovers’ colours.

“The stadium is amazing,” he added. “When you come here, you feel like it is a huge club, so we need to bring those times back and I’m just looking forward to it.”

  • Don't forget, Rovers fans now have extra time to take advantage of the club's price freeze on season tickets for the 2017-18 season.

The great-value Early Bird offer - and claim your seat deadline - has been extended until Saturday July 1st.

With adult prices starting from just £279, it means supporters who buy or renew a season ticket can see all the action at Ewood Park for less than £13 per game.
