Key dates for the upcoming season

Now that Rovers' fixtures for the 2017/18 League One campaign are out, here are some key dates for your diary...

  • Saturday 1st July - Early Bird Deadline

  • Saturday 5th August - Southend United (A)
    Rovers kick off the new season on their travels with a first visit to Roots Hall since November 1991. But they'll hope to fare better than on that occasion as the Shrimpers ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

  • Week Commencing Monday 7th August - Carabao Cup 1st round
    Tony Mowbray returns to former club Coventry City in the first round of the Carabao Cup. The date and kick-off time for the match at the Ricoh Arena will be confirmed shortly.

  • Saturday 12th August - Doncaster Rovers (H)
    The first home league game of the 2017-18 season sees Doncaster Rovers visit Ewood Park. The last time the two sides met, Rudy Gestede scored the only goal of the game as Rovers defeated Donny 1-0 at Ewood Park in January 2014.

  • Saturday 4th November - Emirates FA Cup 1st round
    Rovers enter the famous cup competition at the first round stage this forthcoming campaign. Last season saw Rovers knock out Queens Park Rangers and Blackpool before succumbing to Manchester United in the fifth round.

  • Tuesday 26th December - Rochdale (H)
    Ewood Park will host Rochdale on Boxing Day, one of the favourite days in the footballing calendar. Rovers are unbeaten against the Dale in their last six league and cup encounters.

  • Monday 1st January - Rotherham United (A)
    Rovers have a trip to South Yorkshire on New Years Day to take on the Millers. The two sides met back in February with a late own goal earning Rovers share of the spoils.

  • Saturday 5th May - Oxford United (H)
    Rovers end the season on home soil when Oxford United are the visitors. Scott Sellars was on target from the penalty spot in a 1-1 draw the last time the U's visited Ewood Park in February 1992.
