Rovers have strengthened their squad further with the capture of coveted midfielder Ben Gladwin from Queens Park Rangers.

Hot on the heels of the signing of Bradley Dack, the 25-year-old joins on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Reading-born, Gladwin came through the ranks at his hometown team, before cutting his teeth at various clubs at non-league level and it was whilst at Marlow FC that he caught the eye of League One side Swindon Town, who he joined in the summer of 2013.

An attacking midfielder with an eye for a goal, Gladwin was an immediate hit at the County Ground. During a two-year spell with the Robins, he scored an impressive 11 goals from 56 appearances, playing a key role as they reached the 2014-15 League One play-off final, having bagged a brace in the semi-final success over Sheffield United.

His rising profile alerted the attention of Championship side QPR, who signed Gladwin that summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.5m.

After finding first team opportunities limited at the start of the 2015-16 season, he returned to the Robins in October 2015 on loan until the turn of the year.

A month at Bristol City followed, before he finished the campaign back at Loftus Road, featuring in their final five games.

Last season saw the versatile midfielder play regularly for the Hoops, but following their FA Cup defeat to Rovers in January, he returned to Swindon Town for a third spell, scoring twice in 18 appearances.

Gladwin becomes Rovers’ fourth signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of Peter Whittingham, Richie Smallwood and fellow new boy Bradley Dack.
