Ben 'Glad' to be a Rover

28 June 2017

New boy Ben Gladwin is looking forward to a fresh start in Rovers colours after completing his move to Ewood Park.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who joins from Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee, has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal through to June 2019.

Gladwin made his name at Swindon Town, where he scored 11 goals in 57 appearances, and fired the club into the 2014-15 League One play-off final.

After finding first team opportunities limited at QPR, who secured his services for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.5m in May 2015, Gladwin is eager to get his career back on track and he believes Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is the right man to help him achieve that.

“I’m delighted.” he said. “It’s obviously a huge football club – you feel the sheer size of it as soon as you walk into the training ground.

“It’s a new chapter for me, something a little bit different, coming up north, so I’m really excited to meet my new team-mates and get started.

“I think as soon as I met the manager I got a great feeling about it. He’s a good guy, he’s a football man, he loves to play football, so the way he speaks about the game it matches a lot of my beliefs and what I like to do, so hopefully it will go well.

“My spell with Swindon was probably the best time I've had and I would like to get back to that, and scoring goals, so I’m looking forward to doing that.

“I had a good time at QPR, but I never really got going. It would have been nice for everything to have worked out there, but it’s time for a fresh start and I’m really looking forward to it.”
