Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is delighted to tie right-back Ryan Nyambe down to a new long-term deal.
The 19-year-old Academy graduate has committed his future to Rovers until at the least the summer of 2020 and Mowbray hopes the talented teenager can be part of a successful story for the club going forward.
“Ryan is one of our own and I’m delighted he’s committed his future and he sees this is where he should learn his trade,” said the manager.
“Hopefully Ryan and ourselves can go on a successful journey together. First and foremost, we want to get back to having a Championship status and that’s the first goal for us both.
“We’re happy that Ryan is going to come along on the journey and hopefully he plays a lot of football over the next few years and builds his profile and his stock and he helps our team be successful.”
Mowbray believes Nyambe, who made 28 appearances last season, has all the raw ingredients to be a top talent and a major asset for the club in the future.
“As we saw at the end of last season, Ryan has an abundance of positive attributes to his game,” added the Rovers boss.
“He’s got plenty also that he needs to learn and he needs to improve at, but I think the raw qualities that he does possess, he’s another stone that we have to try and polish up into a nice gem.
“He definitely has the ingredients that we can do that and hopefully he becomes a big asset for the football club and the team on the grass.”
