Rovers' Under-23s were amongst the goals once more as they defeated Ramsbottom United 4-1 on Wednesday evening.
Following their 5-0 win over AFC Darwen last week, Damien Johnson's side made it back-to-back victories this pre-season in a competitive encounter.
It was a strong Rovers side that lined up at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium, with the likes of Lewis Hardcastle, Joe Nuttall and Joe Rankin-Costello, who had all featured for the first team the evening before at York, in the starting line-up.
Yet it took the young Rovers time to get in their stride but they grabbed the opening goal on 25 thanks to excellent play from Stefan Mols.
The midfielder ran from the centre circle to the edge of the area before slipping the ball through for Nuttall to fire home.
Ten minutes later and Rovers' lead was doubled. Defender Matty Platt took advantage of the space afforded to him to advance into the Ramsbottom half, and he sent over a pin-point cross that was expertly headed home by Hardcastle.
Rovers would end the opening 45 three goals in front thanks to a penalty on the stroke of half-time.
After Jack Evans had been tripped in the box, Nuttall made it five goals from two Rovers outings as he made no mistake from the spot.
The start of the second half saw the Evo-Stik North side reduce arrears from the penalty spot.
Tyler Magloire bundled over his man in the area and substitute Greg Daniels fired home from 12-yards.
As the second half wore on both sides made a host of substitutions, but after Lewis Thompson struck the woodwork for Rovers, they made it 4-1 with 14 minutes remaining.
Lewis Travis made progress down the right and his ball into the box was met by the perfectly timed run of Ben Paton who headed into the corner of the net to complete the scoring.
