Bradley backing NCS summer sign-ups

20 July 2017

New signing Bradley Dack is urging local teenagers to grab the final five places available on Blackburn Rovers Community Trust's summer NCS programme, which starts on Monday.

With so few spaces remaining to join the fastest growing youth movement in the UK, anyone currently aged 15, 16 or 17 who hasn't yet discovered the life-changing benefits of National Citizen Service needs to get a move on to avoid missing out this time around.

The Community Trust's cohort will see up to around 100 youngsters spending four weeks improving their confidence, life skills and local area.

Starting off with an outward bound week in the Lake District to challenge your fears and enjoy some amazing expeiences and scenery, a second week on the road follows in Lancaster, where participants will gain knowledge in how to live independently, working on budgeting, cooking, self-confidence workshops and much more.

Newly boosted by these psychological advantages, you'll spend two weeks back at Ewood Park, helping to devise and deliver a fundraising campaign to help a local good cause of your group's choice, ensuring that you work wonders for less fortunate people on your doorstep.

Dack, recently signed from Gillingham, was impressed with what he heard about the plans for NCS, explaining:

"I've obviously got commitments at pre-season training over the next few weeks, otherwise a trip to the Lake District to take part in all these activities sounds like a great idea!

"The young people that get involved in this programme are going to gain so much from getting involved, so if anyone is still debating about joining in, just say 'yes' - you won't regret it."

As you can clearly see from the promotional photo, the NCS strapline is 'It all starts at yes', so follow Bradley's advice and join his final five on the Community Trust's summer programme.

We're taking bookings now for anyone wishing to contact Mick Whittle via 01254 508256 or michael.whittle@brfctrust.co.uk.

For a full itinerary of where the four week programme will take you, check out the information page on the Blackburn Rovers Community Trust website which contains all the key dates.

If you fall into the NCS age bracket, you're also the ideal age to consider signing up for our BTEC in Sport. Don't miss Thursday's open night from 6pm to 8pm in the Darwen End - call 01254 508256 or email chris.mcgrail@brfctrust.co.uk to learn more!
