Lucas Joao can't wait to get going in Rovers colours.
The Portuguese international has joined on loan from Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season and he hopes to play his part in helping to steer Rovers to a position of safety.
"I am excited to meet my new colleagues and to play for Blackburn," said the 23-year-old frontman. "I hope everything goes well and I’m looking forward to helping Rovers climb up the table.
"I spoke with the manager and Blackburn Rovers seems to provide the perfect conditions for becoming a better player and I want to help the team, so that’s why I have joined.
"Sheffield Wednesday have a lot of strikers who have a lot of quality, so I felt I needed to move away to play more and progress. Blackburn Rovers have given me this opportunity and I need to enjoy it and most importantly, play well."
With Sam Gallagher and Danny Graham now both into double figures for the season, Joao knows that he will have a fight on his hands to force his way into the team, but he is confident in his own ability and he insists he will give his all for the team.
"They are good strikers, but my principal objective is to help the team, so I hope I can do that with my quality and help Rovers to get into the best position possible," he added.
"I am a striker and hopefully I will be able to show my quality in that position to the fans. I will run and I will fight for the team."
The forward could make his Rovers debut on Wednesday night when Leeds United are the visitors to Ewood Park.
