Owen Coyle was happy to get a home draw in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Rovers’ reward for beating Queens Park Rangers 2-1 in round three is an Ewood Park encounter against either Barnsley or Blackpool, who played out a goalless draw at Bloomfield Road.

Despite missing out on a glamour tie against one of the Premier League’s ‘big boys’, the Rovers boss believed the fourth round fixture presented the club with a good opportunity to progress.

“Anytime you get a home draw it’s great,” said the manager. “The fact that it’s the FA Cup - such a prestigious competition - then we’re delighted with that.

“When you get a home tie, you want one of two things. We’d love for the fans one of those big glamour clubs or if it’s not going to be, then you want a tie which you feel that you’ve got a chance of winning.

“Whilst we still don’t know our opponents, because there’s a replay to take place between Barnsley and Blackpool, when it comes about, we’ll do everything we can to try and get through to the next round.

“There’s obviously some important league business to take care of before that, but when it comes about it’s a game that we will be ready for. Hopefully there’ll be some excitement generated through the fans and it’s a chance to progress through to the last 16. If you’re able to do that, we know that anything can happen because that’s the beauty of the FA Cup.”
