Oswaldtwistle's Moor End Primary School completed the line up for next week's finals day in the Kinder +Sport Kids Cup after a penalty shoot-out final victory over Feniscowles St Paul's.
The final team through showed great resolve to see off a talented St Paul's team that belied the fact that the majority of their team hailed from year five and therefore were a year younger than most of their opponents.
Some superbly struck penalties in the final clash ensured that they're still in with a chance of representing Blackburn Rovers in the national stages of the competition, the final being played at Wembley in May as a curtain raiser to the Championship Play-Off Final.
To do so, they'll have to come back next week and see off the rest of the primary school line-up, which also includes Eccleston, The Redeemer, Feniscowles, Balladen and St Peter's Darwen.
Our thanks go to the final day's other competitors Audley Junior School, Brindle St James, Holy Trinity Darwen, St Aidan's, St Thomas' and Woodlea, who helped to ensure that our completed tally of entrants for this year's competition stood at exactly 50 participating teams - a sizeable jump from last year's numbers.
