Rovers welcome back Darragh Lenihan to the squad for Saturday's trip to Ipswich Town, but they will still be without two key midfielders.
The former Republic of Ireland under-21 captain is available once more after serving a three-match suspension following his sending off on Boxing Day at Barnsley, but the match comes too soon for Corry Evans and Craig Conway to be available.
Speaking ahead of the weekend clash at Portman Road, boss Owen Coyle said: "Corry Evans missed last week and again it looks as though he'll be a big doubt for the weekend at Ipswich.
"We have to get to the underlying problem because even last year Corry only played 20 games and 20 games out of 46 in the Championship for a player of Corry's ability is a huge loss to Blackburn Rovers.
"So we have to find a way to put a plan in place that will help Corry be available each and every week. Because if he is then it improves our team.
"We have the long-term injuries in Elliott Ward and Adam Henley, whilst Craig Conway missed last week as well with a hamstring after coming off in the Newcastle game
"He's managed to go on the grass today with the medical team, but not with my group, so it is a matter of building that hamstring up. So I think Saturday will come too soon, but thereafter hopefully he will be fit and available for the matches."
