A key period for us

Owen Coyle knows the forthcoming run of games at Ewood Park could go some way to shaping their season.

Rovers begin a four-match stretch of home games starting with this afternoon's clash with Birmingham City, and the manager is fully aware of how key this period of games can be if they are to get the points to move them up the table.

Coyle hopes that last week's loss at Ipswich Town proves to be a blip, knowing they need to show the sort of form that saw them claim four points from matches against Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United at the turn of the year.

"Birmingham at home is an important game, it leads us into a run of home games that we want to be doing well in," the manger told Rovers PlayerHD.

"The focus, as always, is making sure that the group is ready to give their best and make sure they are ready to go and look to win three points and that is what we will concentrate on.

"It is a fantastic time for us to go and continue with the level which we had been from Huddersfield to Newcastle and onto Queens Park Rangers.

"Last week at Ipswich there was a lot of nice things that happened but equally we shot ourselves in the foot. So it is about eradicating those individual mistakes and if we do that then it gives us a great opportunity to go and win points.

"There is no doubt about it, this is a key period of the season. If you look at our next ten games, there are some huge games and some great games to be playing in and loads of points that are available. So we are going to have to be at our best to gather those points.

"But first and foremost we have to concentrate on Birmingham. I know it is the old cliche but we have to take each game at a time. We'll look to get points and then move onto the next one.

"So it is a very important spell, and within that spell we need the players to be wholehearted and committed for Blackburn Rovers because when we show that we are capable of winning games as we've shown."
