Owen Coyle knows they have to prioritise points over performances to give them the chance of climbing the table.
The Rovers boss was pleased with plenty of aspects of the midweek display against Leeds United, however they ended the Ewood clash on the losing side.
Rovers now face on Queens Park Rangers knowing that they have to get back to winning ways and collect a hugely important three points no matter what.
"There was loads of good things from the performance, but when all is said and done the stage we are at in the season, the points are the all-important thing," Coyle told Rovers PlayerHD.
"We played well but we got no points. Would we have accepted playing poorly and getting three points? Absolutely. Because it is points we are after.
"So as much as you want to put in those big performances, it is more important that we pick up points. That is what we have to do now, we have to find a way to win those games, to do whatever it takes to get us over the line.
"We could have jumped up the table the other night so the opportunity is there for us. Our fate rests in our home hands and we are the ones that can affect that by doing everything correctly to make sure we get the points.
"Of late we have been dominant and more than holding our own and looking to be the aggressor and win the games and that is what we have to do.
"That starts against Queens Park Rangers, we have to make sure that we are at our very best and ready to give everything we've got to make sure we win a very important game."
