Toon test for Barr's boys

Rovers' Under-18s play the final match of their regular league programme this Tuesday lunchtime when they host Newcastle United at Brockhall.

Billy Barr's young prospects have had yet another outstanding U18 Premier League campaign and have guaranteed a top four finish and a place amongst the elite group of teams in the end of season play-offs.

If Rovers secure victory over the Magpies and other results go their way they could finish as high as second behind runaway leaders Manchester City. Currently in fourth, they are on the same points as Liverpool and Manchester United above them with just the one match left to play.

However Tuesday's opponents are one of only four teams to have defeated the young Rovers this season. Back at the end of August Barr's side had a rare off day as they were on the end of a 2-0 away loss.

But the Under-18s are in fine form and go into the match unbeaten in their last six league outings with five wins, including a 3-2 victory over Manchester United on Saturday.

Kick-off at Brockhall is at 12.30pm, all supporters are welcome.
