Jason Steele is anticipating a great occasion when Rovers take on Manchester United in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup this Sunday.

The Rovers goalkeeper believes a positive performance and result can give a timely boost going into a busy league schedule.

Steele knows that today's opponents are huge favourites to progress through to the quarter-finals, but insists that in the cup anything can happen.

"We are lucky in some respect that we've got a chance to go out and try to achieve something special," said the keeper.

"Hopefully if we do well then that can give us a little confidence boost going into a big game against Burton next week.

"Of course we are all eager to get out there and play, but at the same time our sole focus this season has to be to stay in the Championship, that is the main aim.

"I think this is a good distraction and it can only be a positive. Nobody is expecting us to win but we know that we can achieve something. We know that we are going to go out there and give everything we've got and what will be will be."

Ewood will host it's largest crowd of the season and Steele hopes that it can inspire the team.

He added: "We know it is going to be an unbelievable atmosphere and that can only help us.

"The adrenalin of playing in front of that many people, I can only see Sunday as a positive for us, I can only see us doing ourselves justice and showing everyone how good we can be. It is going to be a great occasion."
