Owen Coyle knows it is imperative that Rovers repeat Sunday's performance against Manchester United from now until the end of the season.

Rovers pushed the Premier League giants all the way in the fifth round tie at Ewood Park, narrowly losing out 2-1.

After the exploits of the cup all attentions now return to their league campaign, starting this Friday against Burton, and the manager insists that they have to repeat that level of display in the remaining matches this season to move up the table.

"We really put in a spirited performance and that is the spirit that we need to drive us forward," Coyle told Radio Rovers.

"We felt really hurt and disappointed by the way we were treated against Sheffield Wednesday the other night and we used that to drive ourselves forward.

"I've stressed to the lads after the game that we now use that to move into our 15 cup finals starting with Burton on Friday night.

"If we bring that level of performance and energy then of course we'll win the points to move us out of trouble and to safety and that is what we have to do.

"Burton on Friday night is the biggest game of the season, that is our first cup final and we've got to make sure we are ready for it."
