Rovers U23s are in cup action this evening as Damien Johnson's side do battle with Southampton in the PL Cup at Staplewood Training Ground.
Johnson's troops are currently on a nine-game unbeaten streak in all competitions but will face a stern test against a Southampton side who do have previous in this competition.
Just two years ago this tie was the two-legged Final, which the Saints narrowly won, so there could well be some revenge in order from the likes of Lewis Mansell and Lewis Hardcastle, who were both involved in the games.
Current first team pair David Raya and Ryan Nyambe started both games in 2015, whilst Southampton had ex-Rovers loanee Sam Gallagher - who actually scored the winning goal in the second leg - in their line up.
Back to the present day and it remains to be seen whether Joe Rankin-Costello will feature with the midfielder missing the 2-2 draw at home to West Brom last time out in league action.
But Johnson will be boosted by the news that Lewis Travis travelled down to the south coast last night after playing a part in the first team's game against Crewe Alexandra in the FA Cup.
Currently a point and a place above Southampton in Group B of the cup competition after two games played, Rovers are unbeaten in the competition so far having drawn 3-3 at home to Cardiff City and thrashing Watford 6-1 at the Lancashire FA HQ in Leyland.
