The players will want to show a reaction

Tony Mowbray has called on his squad to put in a performance worthy of the quality that the squad possesses in this evening's Carabao Cup match against Coventry City.

The Rovers boss was far from impressed with his side's display in the weekend loss at Southend United, and has demanded that they put it right in tonight's first round clash.

Mowbray believes the match at the Ricoh Arena is a chance to right the wrongs of Saturday's defeat, and hopes that the team bounce back well to ensure cup progress.

"We are looking forward to the challenge of the next game," said the manager.

"We know that we didn't perform at the weekend, we know that we didn't show our true colours.

"The sooner we find a performance more worthy of the quality that we possess then the better it will be for everybody.

"For the players' pride, they'll want to show a reaction after the defeat. The important part of any successful team is their ability to bounce back after a defeat.

"Everybody will lose games, but you have to react. The team has to have it in their stomachs to find a performance that wants to put the we weekend right and that is what I hope will happen.

"We have to go to Coventry and try to impose ourselves on them and try and use our quality. Yet we have to be very mindful that they'll be very organised and very hard to break down. Not too dis-similar from Southend.

"It is a big open expansive pitch, it's not a tight little ground, and that hopefully might help us."

Tickets for tonight's match are now off sale at Ewood. Fans can pay on the door at the Ricoh Arena. Prices are Adults £13, Seniors 60+ £9, 18-21 £9 and Under 18 £2.
