Rovers have strengthened their goalkeeping ranks with the signings of promising youngsters Charlie Albinson and Aaron Dillon following successful trials.
The pair have both put pen-to-paper on one-year deals with the option of a further 12 months and will join up with Damien Johnson’s development squad.
Albinson arrives at Rovers from Manchester City, where he had been on the books from the age of eight, whilst Irishman Dillon has spent the past two seasons training with Liverpool and Crewe Alexandra, having previously played for Galway United in his homeland.
Rovers’ goalkeeping coach Ben Benson was delighted to welcome the two 20-year-olds on board, saying: “It’s been an area we’ve been wanting to look at certainly in my two-and-a-half years here, just to add a little bit more competition to what we already have.
“We have young Andy Fisher as well, who is doing really well, and we’re hopeful for him as well in the long-term.
“Bringing these goalkeepers in gives us an opportunity to possibly look towards loan moves and different pathways for the goalkeepers we already have, as well as giving us competition.
“So we are delighted that the two boys have decided to join us and they’ll go straight into the training group, which gives us a really good working group now, so we’re really happy with that.”
The two new keepers are expected to go straight into the squad for tomorrow's Premier League 2 opener against Wolves at Ewood Park, kick-off 7pm.
