Tony Mowbray will check on the fitness of one or two of his players ahead of this weekend's opening match of the season at Southend United.

The manager feels the squad are in good shape as they look to get their campaign off to a winning start, but admits there are a couple who are carrying knocks that might not make the trip to the south east.

Mowbray wouldn't be drawn on who may or may not take to the field at Roots Hall on Saturday, only that no-one is suffering from a serious injury.

"We are okay, we aren't too bad," said the Rovers boss.

"We've got one or two knocks that we'll have to look at tomorrow (Friday). But we are okay, we are in decent shape.

"If the team sheet gets announced and so and so isn't on it then it is just a knock or tightness. Nobody that a week Saturday wouldn't be fit and available for the team.

"There are no long-term injuries, no long-term major problems, just a few knocks and niggles at the moment."
