Rovers boss Tony Mowbray knows it is hugely important that the side claim their first points of the season this weekend.
After last week's disappointing display in the opening day defeat to Southend United, Rovers get their home campaign underway when Doncaster Rovers are the visitors to Ewood Park on Saturday.
Although boosted by the Carabao Cup win over Coventry City in midweek, the manager knows that it is the bread and butter of the league where results are needed.
"After the first league game I think it is important to get some points on the board pretty quickly," said Mowbray.
"The longer you don't get points on the board the more pressure mounts as you look for that first league win.
"I've been there in the past where you can win two or three cup games early on and yet if you still haven't won in the league you get battered with that.
"You've got to get that first win in the league, get the points on the board and get rolling. There's this subliminal thing of looking at tables. I tell players not to bother looking at tables until 10, 12 games to see where we are because they are very false early on. After a dozen games I'd hope we'd be at the right end of the table. Close to where we want to be.
"So there's a process that you have to go through. You have to play well, you have to work hard, you have to score goals, you have to keep clean sheets. You have to be good at your jobs and then things then happen.
"All amongst trying to gel the team together with all the new players.
"It is the same for every club of course, that is why sometimes it doesn't settle down for a good few weeks. So don't get too high if you win your first few games and don't get too low if you lose them.
"Over 46 games it is the team that is the most consistent that will be at the top."
