Tony Mowbray knows the importance of making Ewood Park a fortress if they are to enjoy a successful campaign.
As MK Dons make the trip to Lancashire this Saturday, the Rovers boss has stressed that hard work - as shown in last week's win over Bradford City - is the key to getting results.
Rovers are yet to taste victory on home soil this season, but Mowbray is confident that if the team continue to display the right attributes then the wins at Ewood will arrive.
"We've got to try and make it a place that is very difficult for teams to come," said the manager.
"But we have to build that really, it has to start somewhere.
"In my period at the end of last season we managed to win a few games. We beat Aston Villa, Derby, Wigan, and we drew a couple.
"But it was only through hard work. Thinking back to those games they were terribly hard work to hang on in some of them to win 1-0 at home. But that is ultimately what you have to do. You have to build a reputation, nobody is going to turn up and expect us to roll them over.
"Hard work, endeavour, togetherness, team spirit, playing forward, getting men in the box, keeping clean sheets - that is how you win games.
"They have to collectively be together, that is why we do the work every day. We try to have a game plan for every match and ultimately try and win games.
"But it has to start from somewhere and this season, where we believe most of our points will come at home, we have to start and lets hope Saturday is the first three points."
