Dominic Samuel was delighted to get his first Rovers goal in Tuesday night's cup win over Coventry City.
The summer signing from Reading grabbed Rovers' third at the Ricoh Arena to set up a mouthwatering second round tie with local rivals Burnley.
Samuel was pleased to score against one of his former clubs, and hopes it provides a nice boost ahead of this Saturday's first home game of the season against Doncaster.
"I'm not just happy for myself, I'm happy for the team as well," Samuel told iFollow Rovers.
"As a striker everything is on you. You are there to find the goals and set up the goals. There is so much pressure on you. But at the same time you swallow that pressure and you do the best for the team, so it was a good thing I got the goal on Tuesday night.
"As soon as you join a new club all you want to do is score and make a good impression.
"If you do get a goal early in the season then it boosts your confidence as a striker. Now I just want to get more."
After his debut goal, young striker is now looking forward to making his home debut, at a ground where he enjoyed success last season.
Back in December Samuel grabbed the opening goal for Reading to help the Royals defeat the Rovers 3-2.
"I tend to not look at the past and always look at where I am now," he added.
"I know I scored at Ewood Park last year, but now I am a Blackburn Rovers player and my aim is just to focus on Saturday and do a job for the team and score goals.
"I played at the ground last year so I know it well. It is a big pitch, but we can use that to our advantage and hopefully the confidence will go our way on Saturday."
