Dack backs Samuel to succeed

Bradley Dack delighted to have pal Dominic Samuel with him at Rovers

3 August 2017

Bradley Dack has tipped fellow summer signing Dominic Samuel to be a big hit in Rovers colours.

The young forwards enjoyed a successful spell together at Gillingham in 2015-16, when they netted 22 goals between them, as Dack was crowned the League One Player of the Year.

The duo showed glimpses of that understanding in last Friday's friendly at Carlisle and Dack believes they can rekindle their impressive partnership here at Rovers.

“I think it’s a great signing for the club and I’m buzzing to have him here," said the 23-year-old attacking ace.

"He’s proven at League One level that he can do it and I think it just shows now the strength in depth we’ve got in the squad.

“It's nice to have him here. He’s a familiar face. I played with him at Gillingham and we got on really well.

“It was one of those things that just happened to click at the right time. He makes good runs, so it makes it easy for midfield players to pick him out.

"We hit it off and I think he set up a few of mine and I set up a few of his, so we worked well together.

“He brings a bit of pace, he’s good with his back to goal, he’s unselfish and he can finish.

“His goalscoring record in this league, especially when he was with Gillingham, was really good and he’s obviously played under the gaffer at Coventry and I think the gaffer knows what he can do, so it just brings another dimension to the team."

Despite only arriving at Rovers a few weeks ago, Dack insists he has already settled into the squad really well and he's confident Samuel will do the same.

"I think it will be easier for him to settle in with me being here, but it’s a great group of boys here," he added.

"I’ve only been here a few weeks now, but I’ve settled in really well. They all make you feel welcome, so he will be settled in in the next couple of weeks and hopefully we can have a good season.”
